Quebec 4-H Job Opportunities
Agricultural Liaison
This is a full time salaried position; salary commensurate with experience. Travel, some weekends and evenings required. Start date is September 10, 2012. Telecommuting may be possible.
Responsibilities: We are seeking a highly independent, organized and resourceful person to work with our team on tasks including:
- Some day-to-day operations of Quebec 4-H
- Work on public relations and opportunities for partnership between Quebec 4-H and organizations within the agricultural community
- Plan, organize, promote and acquire funding for Quebec 4-H projects and provincial activities
- Offer assistance to local clubs
- Update Executive Director weekly, or as required
- Accept other assignments as required
Qualifications Required:
- Excellent French and English writing and oral communication skills
- An interest in the 4-H mission, values, and approach
- Experience in the agricultural industry
- Aptitude for working with youth under age 25 and volunteers of all ages
- Proven ability to work autonomously, enjoy self-directed work, and balance a variety of tasks and priorities
- Exemplary team-player who enjoys sharing tasks and working collaboratively
- Excellent interpersonal communication and networking skills
- Demonstrated experience coordinating projects
- Vehicle and valid driver’s license
Project Coordinator
“Celebrating the Past, Embracing the Future” 100 years of 4-H and beyond
This is a temporary, salaried position, from September 10, 2012 to December 2013; 30 hours per week, telecommuting is possible; travel, some weekends, and evenings required.
The Project Coordinator will harmonize efforts of 4-H clubs in several regions (Eastern Townships, Montérégie, Laurentides and Western Quebec) to create special events, historical records, and heritage displays in celebration of the 100th anniversary of 4-H in Canada. The project will begin in September 2012 in preparation for the centennial in 2013. Efforts will not only celebrate the past 100 years but also help to propel the organization into the next 100 years by increasing awareness and developing relationships.
Responsibilities: We are seeking a highly independent, organized and resourceful person to:
- Collaborate with volunteers and staff at local, provincial and national levels of 4-H
- Create a historical record (digital and/or print) of the Q4-H Association and its clubs
- Assist members to compile historical records of their local clubs
- Assist members to compile items for heritage displays
- Assist clubs to connect with venues (local historical societies, museums, cultural centres and fairs) for displays, promotion, and activities
- Assist clubs to reengage alumni
- Reengage alumni from clubs that no longer exist
- Promote 100th anniversary activities (national, provincial and regional)
- Increase awareness of 4-H through local newspapers, major newspapers, television, radio, breed associations, agricultural publications, and other provincial organizations
- Assist clubs in each region to host a traditional event ex: curling bonspiel, baseball tournament, woodsmen competition, tractor rodeo, etc
- Host a provincial celebration for members, leaders, alumni, sponsors
- Update Executive Director weekly, or as required
- Accept other assignments as required

Office Assistant
This is a part time salaried position of 4 hours per week from the end of August 2012 to May 2013. Shift(s) will be flexible based on candidate’s schedule.
Responsibilities include day-to-day operations of Quebec 4-H, such as:
- Filing and data entry
- Editing and layout of newsletter
- Preparation of mailings
- Response to general email enquiries
- Posting of content to website
- Acceptance of other assignments as required
Qualifications Required:
- Bilingual
- Excellent English writing and oral communication skills
- An interest in the 4-H mission, values, and approach
- Exemplary team-player who enjoys sharing tasks and working collaboratively
